Description

Leidos is seeking a highly motivated Chief Network Engineer who can work in a multi-discipline engineering team (signal processing, systems engineers, scientists, etc.) and contribute to the research, design, and development of advanced networking and radio communications components across multiple R&D projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for technical management of the projects, as well as making key technical contributions to the projects. The candidate must have a strong background in both wired and wireless networking and communications, including 4G LTE and 5G wireless networks, and possess a deep understanding of network protocols, such as IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP/ICMP, ARP, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as Principal Investigator/Chief Engineer for a project, which includes defining and managing the technical project plan and the technical team, and ensuring that all aspects of the project remain on schedule and within budget.
• Design and define network architecture for new or existing systems.
• Perform complex network development and design.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve advanced/next-generation networking challenges.
• Support/manage systems integration and participate in laboratory and field test events.
• Some travel and work at remote sites for limited periods may be required.


Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 12+ years of experience –MA/MS degree preferred. Additional years of experience may be substituted for advanced degree.
• Must possess and maintain a minimum U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Knowledge and experience with network protocols such as TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, DNS, DHCP and routing protocols such as OSPF, OLSR, BGP, and others
• Knowledge of 4G LTE & 5G architectures, including RAN, RIC, gNodeB, 5G PHY layer, edge computing, network slicing, etc.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to work efficiently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with little to no supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Highly Desired:
• Serve as Principal Investigator or Technical Lead in research and development projects.
• Interact with outside customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups.
• Experience in cybersecurity and related topics.

• Experience as technical contributor to technical proposals.

• Possess experience/knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
