Leidos is hiring a Network Engineer (WAN). All work will be performed onsite at the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Suitland, MD.

The purpose of this effort is for the contractor to function as the WAN technician for the local network and telecommunications traversing the NMIC technical control facility. This encompasses roughly 134 telecommunications circuits ranging from T1 to OC-192 covering both serial and Ethernet technologies. he contractor will isolate and resolve complex network, cryptographic, and telecommunication problems associated with the operating system of the CISCO devices along with the LAN/WAN interface that includes cryptographic equipment and telecommunications technologies.

The Network Operations Division (ISC-N31) is responsible for providing network administration and engineering related support for elements within the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) and locations around the world. This ranges from providing simple patching actions between network components to configuring hardware and security solutions to performing network administration functions. The responsibilities of the technician(s) assigned to ISC-N31 are primarily at the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Layers one through four however knowledge of systems/applications working at the higher layers is imperative to the continued success of the ISC-N31 and its various supported customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform any physical patching and software (CISCO IOS) patching as required.

  • Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to CISCO products and develop and implement remediation plans.

  • Coordinate outages with functional customers and team lead.

  • Develop/draft any Service Level Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for routine and non-routine procedures that assist in the management of the enterprise networks.

  • Perform any required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, IOS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and document various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the network’s accreditation cycle.

  • Assist in the development of technical refresh plan.

  • Act as an action officer on various new projects as assigned.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • BS and 4 or more years experience in network design and administration. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • 1 year experience with Remedy ® incident management tool.

  • Proficient in configuring CISCO devices using: EIGRP, BGP, SNMP, TCP/IP, OSPF, Spanning Tree, ARP, dot1Q, VLANs, VPN, GRE, IPSEC, subnetting, NAT, access control lists, and various other routing and networking protocols.

  • Proficient in data packet capture and traffic analysis.

  • Proficient in writing technical and non-technical papers.

  • Proficient in remediating vulnerability scans.

  • CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

  • Security+.
