Position Summary

Under the general guidance of Vice President, Pharma Global Supply Chain, accountable for development and ongoing effective and efficient execution of the following as assigned:

Sr. Director of Long-term Supply and Capacity Planning is responsible for Developing rough cut capacity plans and scenarios in line with potential network evolution (per S&BE) and bringing long term (36+ months) perspective across planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Worldwide scope with focus on top countries, key brands and early assets
  • Lead sensitivity analyses on long-range planning assumptions and capacity planning analysis to inform investment/capex decisions
  • Develop rough cut capacity plans and scenarios in line with potential network evolution (per S&BE) – bringing long term (36+ months) perspective across planning activities
  • Lead the API & Long-Range planning team to develop -
    • A feasible MPS for API (consensus with sites/CMOs) and drive compliance for assigned manufacturing sites
    • Planning and scenarios for Long Range capacity
  • Support the Global Product Strategy process – and supporting sub-teams – to ensure product life cycle is supported, with supply/inventory plans aligned to defined strategies and support product level S&OP reviews
  • Involved in Pharma Network Planning Process to develop a Long-Range Master Plan for all manufacturing sites, both internal sites and CMOs, with a focus on long term strategic capacity planning
  • Lead and develop E2E Supply Plans to promote and support execution for achieving Customer Service levels, lead time, and inventory turns per agreed target levels at all nodes of the GSC
  • Jointly with External manufacturing and Procurement teams, actively support the Supplier Relationship Programs by providing collaborative rolling long term production requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining consistent quality of assumptions leading to optimal strategic decision making
  • Lead, coach, and develop the assigned team of employees
  • Liaise with SCPLs (Supply Chain Product Leaders) to discuss network evolution, rough cut capacity considerations, implications of product strategy/supply on network
  • Provide input into network capacity and connections to long range supply plans by value stage
  • Remain up to date on latest technology/systems/platforms available to assist long-range planning efforts and analyses to inform technology choices
  • Develop the right functional organization structure and staffing plan to meet the functional, GPS and BMS objectives of cost, service and quality. Ensure the right person (talent) is doing the right work (key objectives) at the right time (priorities)
  • Ensure culture of performance, collaboration, and accountability where individuals are valued, recognized, and aligned to the BMS Mission & GPS strategy
  • Support Vice President, Pharma Global Supply Chain to ensure alignment with Global GPS Planning Processes

  • B.S. or BA in supply chain management, science and/or engineering (biotechnology, engineering or related sciences). M.B.A or advanced degree, diploma or certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP certification) strongly preferred
  • Required 10+ years of supply chain management and planning experience for a reputed, global or multi-plant Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Consumer Product company utilizing world class supply chain planning and execution processes with at least 3 of those years as a manager.
  • Required: Experience with site capacity planning and knowledge of Biotech, Pharmaceutical Sales & Operations Planning processes.
  • Strongly Preferred: Experience with ERP and Advanced Planning Systems (preferably Kinaxis Rapid Response, SAP ECC, BW/BI, SNP APO).
  • Good understanding and exposure to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other regulatory requirements
  • Experience in developing and implementing world class, global supply chain planning processes and managing them through deployment of global advanced planning and scheduling systems
  • Exposure and experience in Biotech / Pharmaceutical manufacturing process, principles and practices; preferably at production site and headquarters level
  • Experience in working internationally in a fast paced, reputable global Biotech / Pharmaceutical or Consumer company organized in a matrix structure
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, especially in building highly effective, world class, global teams
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and build strong relationships by being transparent, reliable, and delivering on commitments.
  • Demonstrated capability in implementing challenging goals, objectives and practices in a complex and ambiguous environment
  • Ability to provide innovative ideas to optimize supply chain and generate new ideas or alternatives that create value including seeking new information and external insights.
  • Certification or exposure to Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement concepts desirable (value stream mapping).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in competency areas of Strategic Agility, Organizational Agility, Business Acumen, Process Design and Management, Organization Change Management and Process Effectiveness - in globally diverse, rapidly changing cross-cultural environment Financial Concepts and application
  • Strong ability in negotiating and influencing without authority in complex, high impact situations – developing holistic business case.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and employee development skills
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, problem solving and rapid decision making skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to create and foster a team based environment to establish and maintain cooperative relationships
