The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for customization, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise class applications. They will design, document, and implement custom development and configurations on enterprise applications. The Senior Application Engineer is also responsible for resolution of complex incidents and problems in supported enterprise applications including, but not limited to, NextGen, Varian Aria, Microsoft SharePoint, Orchard Copia/Harvest, and OncoEMR.

The Senior Application Engineer has a functional knowledge of the EHR ecosystem. They have knowledge of the SQL language as it relates to application support and interface message processing. The Senior Application Engineer works to ensure maximum uptime and efficacy in the enterprise applications.
Assures the ongoing high-performance level of the department through continued development of technical skills and core business knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and Maintain Applications/Systems
  • Resolve complex application incidents and problems.
  • Coaches and provides feedback to others on development of problem-solving skills.
  • Engage as lead on major incident management during outages.
  • Perform installations, upgrades, releases & deployments.
  • Design and maintain system jobs.
  • Demonstrate understanding of application architecture and how business logic integrates with it.
  • Adheres to applicable enterprise development methodologies and processes.
  • Participates in the application deployment process.
  • Develop/Enhance/Integrate Applications and Systems
  • Develops application/system code as defined in technical specifications.
  • Creates unit test plans, executes unit testing and documents results to ensure that code works as designed.
  • Ensures that application code is clearly and comprehensively developed and traceable back to technical specifications.
  • Review and troubleshoot potential coding issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience
  • 3+ years of SQL programming experience
  • 3+ years of Tier 2+ support experience
  • Experience with an EHR, LIS, or similar system (NextGen, Orchard, Varian Aria, OncoEMR)

Preferred Qualification:

  • Healthcare clinical data experience
