What you’ll be doing...

As the Sr. Engineer, Network Engineering, you will be responsible for managing the activities related to Verizon’s wireless device repair including repair cost efficiency, identifying the optimal portfolio of models to be repaired, device lifecycle planning, and oversight of performance metrics. You will bridge communications on inventory, finance, operations, and quality related issues specific to the device portfolio, and ensure continuous improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for meeting operational and quality metrics as defined by this role. Metrics include but are not limited to bounce, repair yield, TAT (repair turnaround time), repair cost and device introduction and end-of-life management.

This position will work with the other OEM account leads, Inventory Management, and Post-Sales Support to identify the optimal volume of repair to support program requirements. This position will also provide repair forecasts and guidance to the repair suppliers and function as the point of contact, as directly related to the repair suppliers, for all questions internal and external, specific to inventory, quality, operational processes, metrics, or cost structure.

The candidate will work closely with Operations teams, Device Evaluation lab, Device marketing and Device Requirements teams in strategic planning, identifying and implementing requirements/test plans and lead Verizon Supply Chain Lean Six Sigma initiatives. The candidate will also function as the point of contact between Finance and Device Quality and Repair for budgeting and cost performance.

  • Reporting on metric compliance and providing readouts on performance.
  • Working with repair suppliers on improvement opportunities where required. Manage and maintain supplier scorecards.
  • Identifying the optimal repair strategy for each of the product lines and repair suppliers. Constantly evaluate inventory levels and associated aging to help manage costs. Reconcile inventory at the repair suppliers. Review and approve repair invoices and provide guidance on potential issues and opportunities.
  • Supporting key business transformation initiatives by monitoring and tracking cost savings and repair expense avoidance.
  • Managing repair order flow to and from repair vendors and proactively managing issues that may affect repair capability and capacity.
  • Reviewing, reconciling, and approving repair invoices to identify discrepancies and opportunities and drive associated adjustments.
  • Developing strategies to drive cost out of the business, including identifying revenue opportunities with cross functional teams.
  • Leading process optimization for the multiple operations.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to identify opportunities in the business.
  • Leading regular meetings to communicate plans with, OEM, cross functional operations, and demand planning.
  • Overseeing all transition and transformational planning, execution, reporting and related escalation management.
  • Ensuring OEM reporting is accurate, timely and leading quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Leading project management initiatives to support overall Device Supply Chain initiatives, including Business Transformation efforts.
  • Communicating regularly to senior leadership regarding operational updates and associated financial benefits.
  • Monitoring monthly repair expenses versus budget and developing actions to align expenses with cost performance targets. Providing reports as needed to finance and leadership.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in supply chain operations.
  • Experience in program or process management.
  • Experience in metric development and oversight.
  • Experience in Returns Processing and/or Service and Repair.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • MBA.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Experience in SAP.
  • Ability to solve cross-functional challenges with excellent analytical skills and OEM management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate business and technical terms, as well as KPIs and SLAs.
  • Persuasive andeffective communicator with the ability to clearly articulate a vision to a broad range of audiences.
  • Strong forward thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience in functioning in a fast paced and fast changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Device quality.
  • Knowledge of engineering.
