Senior Test Engineer ( R-00065266-OTHLOC-PL-2D3789 )
Leidos has an opportunity to support an OEM with their Above Water Warfare System (AWWS). AWWS protects ships and other units from above-water threats, which are increasingly becoming faster, smarter and more complex.
With Anti-ship missiles traveling 3-5x the speed of sound with increasingly complex behavior and often launched in multiples, it becomes increasingly difficult for human operators to execute efficient and effective protection measures. The AWWS provides the necessary information to make the right decision within seconds. With a combination of a new generation of sensors and intelligent Fire-Control system, it continuously assesses which methods are best suited to tackle the detected threat. A Fire-Control system combines the radar and the intelligent algorithm which is designed to assist a ranged weapon system in targeting, tracking and hitting its target. AWWS uses a next-generation dual-band radar suite which integrates an Active Phased-Array Radar (APAR) in the X-band with a Sea Master 400 radar in the S-band.
The Senior Test Engineer will lead Integration Validation Verification Qualification (IVVQ) efforts as part of an international multidisciplinary team. The position offers an exciting and technically challenging domain integrating combat and information management systems with sensors and effectors on board of naval vessels. These complex systems include advanced solutions in the area of information processing, information management, user interaction and control of sensors and effectors. The integration, verification and validation activities take place at the premises of different suppliers, land-based test locations and on board of ships around the world. Responsibilities include having a leadership role in STW/HAT/SAT/Live Firing of the Above Water Warfare System (AWWS) to be executed in the Netherlands, South of France and the Middle East.
