What you’ll be doing...

The Network Systems-Service Assurance is seeking a Senior Distinguished Software / Solution Architect to be the business subject matter expert (SME) and technical leader to ensure delivery of highly-available and scalable real-time applications. In this role, you are expected to architect, engineer, develop, support, and deliver real-time streaming applications that model real-world network entities.

You will utilize your solid understanding of the network KPIs to improve the customer experience through automation of operational network data. Real-time application development will include building stateful in-memory backends, real-time streaming APIs (websockets), leveraging in memory cache technologies such as Apache Ignite, as well as real-time databases such as Apache Druid. The solutions you develop will be used by Verizon network engineers across the country for real-time network operations.

• Designing Software, Architecture and Technology for this new Service Assurance solutions of real-time applications. Improving the customer journey for change management and ticketing.
• Leading the program that will transform the customer experience with Verizon by identifying actionable insights before the network degradation/issue is experienced by the customer.
• Collaborating closely with the various network assurance communities, gathering requirements and seeking iterative feedback on recently delivered application features.
• Ensuring business priorities, performance and user engagement are able to be monitored and measured throughout the process.
• Working with and leading the offshore development team to flesh out the user requirements and ensure that the team is delivering on the project.
• Evaluating existing backend applications and providing thought leadership in areas that can be improved over time.
• Providing regular project/program updates to management.
• Fostering a culture of innovation & staying current/ahead with emerging technologies and taking rational risk in implementing those technologies to deliver ROI.
• Communicating the technology product roadmap to internal and external stakeholders.
• Helping to manage on/off shore cross functional development teams composed of contract resources.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in developing and implementing large scale solutions along with machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms.
• Experience in K8S, Flink/Spark, Argo CD/Workflow, Prometheus, and Aether.
• Experience in distributed cloud-native application design deployed on Kubernetes platforms.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• A Master’s degree.
• Experience in Application Development DevOps Tools.
• Experience in PostGres, Druid, and Oracle databases.
• Experience in Messaging Bus - Kafka/Pulsar.
• Experience in AI/ML - Kubeflow, JupyterHub.
• Knowledge of Network KPIs.
• Ability to work on a team and independently on multiple high-priority projects.
• Ability to manage multiple high-visibility, complex technical projects.
• Experience in building real-time applications which leverage streaming data.
• Experience in streaming message bus platforming, either Kafka or Pulsar.
• Experience in Apache Spark applications and Hadoop platforms.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
