Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products, and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

Lead Software Engineer serves as the technology leader working to ensure engineering operational excellence. The role is responsible for the overall operational excellence of the Engineering team to ensure we have high performing feature teams that are tacking the highest priority work and leveraging current development practices to delivery high quality features that align to the business needs. You will subscribe to principles of the LeSS agile framework in your leadership style. You will focus on execution as well as serve as a mentor in leading through digital and organizational transformation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops technical specifications/design documents as defined in application/system designs and are clearly and comprehensively documented, understood and traceable to business requirements
  • Analyzes/fixes defects identified in testing, including root cause analysis
  • Partners with applicable groups (e.g., QA, Business Systems Analysis) to review and provide feedback on test plan and scenarios
  • Ensures organized source code control and release management
  • Engage with product and technology leaders to gain understanding of the business strategy, vision, and priority
  • Lead multiple engineering/feature teams & drive operational excellence
  • Implement Agile software development and automation across all technology platforms
  • Supports all phases of the SDLC and deploys code to higher environments and collaborates with other in support of the deployment plan
  • Provides on-going expertise to operational support groups and IT teams
  • Participate and support of project teams. Responsible for implementing portions of project plans
  • Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
  • Solves complex problems and/or conducts complex analyses
  • Actively participate in all Agile Events (Daily Scrum, Refinement, Sprint Review, Retrospectives)
  • Provides guidance to the teams during product refinement, analysis, solutioning, and delivery of the work
  • Regular 1:1s with all team members in the Engineering Teams from the Technology Organization
  • Provide meaningful feedback to the Talent Advocates (people managers)
  • Provide an excellent onboarding experience all new team members to include team alignment, applications, processes, and tools
  • Observe and update policies related to our Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Assists the AP and Feature teams in clearing large obstacles
  • Keep current with modern technologies and enterprise systems to maintain a wide body of knowledge; regularly teach concepts for colleagues
  • Serves as a mentor to colleagues in regard to developing solid business relationships and leading through organizational transformation
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies/products related to architectural solutions
  • Maintains knowledge of current domains and strategic roadmaps and that solutions are aligned with business and IT goals and objectives

  • History of executing with excellence: setting purposeful goals and achieving them through intelligent actions, which balancing competing priorities without losing momentum behind execution
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in building web applications and RESTful web services
  • Fosters accountability, transparent communication, innovation and leading by example
  • Outstanding collaboration, solid influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of networking and internet protocols

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent 5+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leading multi-faceted development Teams working on relevant technology
  • Experience leading in an Agile organization
  • Experience with building relationships with business leaders
  • Eligible to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant Microsoft Certifications
  • 4+ years of industry experience in full-stack development
  • 3+ of these qualifications:
    • Experience with .NET Core or similar object-oriented programming language
    • Experience with Visual Studio NET Frameworks using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, ASP.Net CORE, jQuery, Restful Web API's, SOAP, JSON, XML for developing Web Applications
    • Experience with Angular, React, or other JavaScript frameworks / libraries
    • Experience with application containerization, deployment, and orchestration across environments
    • Experience in developing single page application with multiple modules using angular 11* above and Typescript
    • Experience with CI/CD and test automation
    • Experience with building and deploying containers
    • Experience in deployment patterns including Blue/Green, Rolling, and Canary
    • Experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or other similar relational database management
    • Experience with Web APIs and (REST) based communication
    • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, Terraform
    • Experience building cloud-native applications in Azure, AWS, or Google
    • Experience writing and testing Web parts, content types, event handlers, custom workflows, and site definitions
  • Experience operating within a Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) Framework
  • Government contracting experience
