What you’ll be doing...

Are you excited about working on leading edge applications and platforms, and collaborating with major Auto OEMs as part of the next-Gen 5G journey? This position will play a critical role in creating new innovative applications and platforms in automotive CV2X space using advanced machine learning, leveraging 4G/5G, Cloud, and Multi-Access Edge Compute (MEC) using AWS Wavelength and Azure based cloud platform technologies. You will be responsible for development of new use cases, applications, leading and working with internal and external customers to develop NextGen state-of-the-art innovative applications, platforms & solutions. As a subject matter expert, you are expected to lead development of technical pilots/POC’s & productization of the automotive applications/platforms & develop roadmaps that align with business needs. You will also participate/contribute to industry driven standards bodies like 3GPP/GSMA/5GAA etc. to influence and develop standards that advance the adoption of the NextGen automotive data orchestration use cases/solutions.

5G networks will bring unprecedented wireless network speed, with low latency and high bandwidth. Edge computing in a network edge, private cloud environment further reduces latency by running applications closer to the inputs and closer to the recipients of the information. This is an opportunity to work on the forefront of this new emerging technology and help define and build some of the applications that will drive adoption.

  • Work with different Verizon business units to create use case requirements for the new applications and platforms that are focused on automotive data orchestration and any new innovative areas that align with Verizon’s business objectives.
  • Leverage and position Verizon’s 4G/5G, Cloud, and MEC, and AWS Wavelength in supporting the new applications and platforms.
  • Work closely with engineering teams/business teams in terms of product deliverables.
  • Drive product launches including working with public relations teams, executives, and other management team members.
  • Create detailed requirement documents, develop automotive virtual RSU (Road Side unit) platform and applications that will guide internal or external vendors in developing solutions
  • Develop and launch new/enhance applications and platforms where MEC or cloud infrastructure like AWS Wavelength can be leveraged.
  • Partner with internal and external customers in piloting the new applications and platforms.
  • Brainstorm new innovative applications and ideas in the automotive areas to advance the usage of 4G/5G, cloud, and MEC.
  • Participate in standards, evaluate impacts and influence standards to meet Verizon short and long term automotive data orchestration objectives.

What we’re looking for...

You are a visionary and self-sufficient software developer that can rapidly and robustly architect and build out new services and applications.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in developing with Kubernetes, Docker, Python, C, and C++.
  • Development experience in designing software architecture.
  • Experience with in programming with Java, Python or Go.
  • Experience with microservices architectures.
  • Experience with Docker, container orchestration, like in Kubernetes.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science.
  • Experience with LTE/5G technologies.
  • Experience on cloud architecture.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • Expertise in MQTT and other protocols.
  • Working knowledge on next-gen CV2X technology.
  • Experience programming with geospatial data.
  • Experience in deploying cloud services on AWS.
  • Experience in Automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of video encoding/decoding frameworks and protocols for real-time streaming.
  • Experience with architecting/deployment products on AWS Cloud/Wavelength.
  • Experience in capturing device logs using QXDM like tools.
  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP/IP, etc.)
  • Experience with Wireshark in dubbing network issues.
  • Experience in designing and developing analytics solutions.
  • Back-end and network programming.
  • Writing software designed for performance and scale.
  • Proficiency with concurrency.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and reach consensus with cross functional teams.
  • Experience with writing technical requirements, test plans, procedures and proposals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Written, verbal and presentation skills.
