What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP) is the directional virtualization infrastructure used to support mission-critical network functions like 4G/5G wireless apps, Webscale, and Visible. The VCP Engineering team is looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual who will aid in the evolution of the VCP. This team is responsible for engineering the current and future OpenStack infrastructures. The team ensures that the VNFs are placed efficiently to utilize OpenStack resources and work closely with the Maintenance Engineering, HQ Planning, and VNF application owners to accomplish this efficiency. You will take on various functions from applications to hardware to processes and policies.

  • Maintaining/testing software code for cloud platforms.
  • Collaborating with Operations, Maintenance Engineering, and HQ Planning teams on code releases and testing.
  • Keeping up and communicating VCP Edge architecture documentation.
  • Contributing to the planning, design, and deployment of VCP’s current and future infrastructure and software.
  • Communicating best practices, standardization, features enhancements, etc. to software releases.
  • Communicating infrastructure changes, tools both current and future, and infrastructure roadmaps.

Where you'll be working:

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with Openstack related network functions.
  • Experience working with Container related network functions (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with transport and hardware technologies.
  • Experience working with GitLab, GitHub, Confluence, Slack, among other software development tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of experience in the telecommunication industry.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and negotiation qualities.
  • Familiarity with 4G/5G concepts and technology. (Call flows, elements, functions, etc.)
  • Robust written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and able to follow up through to completion on all assignments/projects/deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrable history of collaborating with their peers across organizational boundaries to deliver results.
