Job Description:

Leidos is seeking talented Software, Computer/Electrical Engineering and Cyber Security Co-ops, to work on-site at our Bethesda, MD offices. We are seeking energetic, motivated, self-starters for these technically sophisticated and challenging positions, assisting in the development of a variety of naval training and simulation systems such as CIAT - Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer - YouTube. Opportunities are in the field of computer programming, Linux computer systems engineering, and cyber security engineering.

Depending upon capabilities and desires, software developer candidates may develop system software, numerical models, or 2D/3D graphical software. All software is developed and executed in a Linux environment, and written in C, C++, and Java, utilizing various software packages. Linux computer systems engineering candidates may also assemble and cable computer based systems, configure components, perform integration testing and validation, and work on system foundation components (such as power management scripts). Cyber security candidates may develop complex, defensive cybersecurity solutions for trainer systems and their development environments All work is directly applicable to actual military training systems. Co-op students will gain invaluable, real-world experience on state of the art computer based systems. This is a great opportunity for students seeking a 7+ month co-op position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MUST be Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or a related technical degree, and have at least a 3.2 GPA.

  • MUST be available to work at least 7 months full time as a co-op.

  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance is needed to be considered for employment.

  • Candidates must have software development skills, computer engineering skills, or cyber security skills (previous experience is desirable but not required). Software skills include knowledge of C, C++, and/or Java under a Unix/Linux environment.

Candidates will be working in a professional environment and contributing to systems that will be used throughout the U.S. Navy. Therefore, candidates must be dedicated to producing quality work results, and must be extremely attentive to detail.

Employment is contingent on receiving an interim Secret security clearance.

The following skills are desired but not required:

  • Experience with real-time programming, cluster computing, numerical modeling, or signal processing. Experience with OpenGL, or other graphical software packages.

  • Candidates with active DoD security clearances are strongly desired.

  • For cyber security candidates, 8570.1-M / DoD 8140 compliance (A+ CE or better certification) is desired.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $42,250.00 - $65,000.00 - $87,750.00
