Leidos is seeking a summer intern with a Systems Engineering background to join our team in support of the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) contract, the largest IT services program for the Navy. On the SMIT contract, Leidos delivers the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. The Leidos team supports the Navy in transforming and modernizing NMCI by planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing services and systems that affect 400,000+ users and 1,600 locations. The successful candidate will support Network Transformation and Modernization planning. The successful candidate will gain experience and training on decision analysis, stakeholder collaboration, gap analysis, technology trends, requirements elicitation, costs & schedule estimation, DoD domain, Navy domain, and IT services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Network Transformation and Modernization team’s projects
• Participate in the planning of modernization and transformation of NMCI systems and services
• Collaborate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines
• Comply with ITSM processes and procedures
• Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239
• Support the development and maintenance of processes, checklists, and procedures

Basic Qualifications

• Enrolled in a degree program as a Systems Engineer (or similar) major with graduation planned in 2024-2026
• GPA 3.0 or better
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python or other coding languages
• Ability to obtain Security+ (or other relevant) certification to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements
