Job Description:

Leidos is currently seeking a full-time Systems Administrator who will support the Deployment Health Research Department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will be support custom applications designed to security collect survey responses from large military cohorts. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has the ability to plan and prioritize work and work independently.

Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely from their home office, although weekly visits to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required. Longer term, this position will be required to be on-site at the Naval Health Research Center a minimum of 2 days a week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the Deployment Health website administrator subject matter expert and troubleshoot support issues;

  • Recommend enhancements to the existing site structure and content and seek out new content from other sources;

  • Review web content, links, and design to ensure all associated web pages, documents, links, etc. remain current and dynamic; provide necessary updates and enhancements in a timely manner;

  • Research and correct all bad reference links or display an error message for all links that cannot be corrected until the next major revision of the web page;

  • Monitor site security; reports suspected or actual security breaches and denial of service attacks to appropriate staff;

  • Ensure website infrastructure is up to date with system and security updates; implement appropriate security measures such as firewalls or message encryption;

  • Manage internet and/or intranet infrastructure including but not limited to web, file transfer protocol (FTP), mail servers;

  • Identify useful site performance metrics; collect, track, record, compile, analyze, and report site usage data;

  • Conduct user testing and use analysis to assess usability and effectiveness of site; recommend improvements based on analysis;

  • Discuss, analyze, review, and resolve usability issues in conjunction with development teams;

  • Communicate with site visitors and users regarding site updates, anticipated and unanticipated downtime, and resolution of bugs and outages;

  • Draft, document, and implement backup, recovery, and continuity plans;

  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in web design and development;

  • Lead the team in best practices in the areas of data integrity and secure coding practices;

  • Manage system performance and system backup;

  • Document changes to security and infrastructure;

  • Ensure user documentation is up-to-date with changes to processes, new processes, and system design changes;

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience

  • Proven experience as a Web Administrator or similar role

  • Proven experience in website design and administration

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Linux and MS Windows OS

  • A minimum of two years in Server Side/Backend Administration (installation, upgrade and security patching) of the following Server resources: OS: (Linux CentOS/Red Hat (RHEL), MS Windows Servers) latest version. DB: MariaDB/MYSQL and MS SQL Server, Web App Servers/Services: APACHE (PHP)MS IIS Data Security and Utilities: Fail2ban intrusion detection utility, AIDE Data at rest protection utility CLOUD Platforms: AWS, AZURE

  • Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communications skills, organizational and workload management, interpersonal and team building skills;

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other related software

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with investigators, vendors, and research staff

  • Due to federal contract restrictions, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. We will assist any selected applicant in the process to obtain a secret clearance if they do not already have one.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
