Leidos has an opening for a Systems Administrator to manage a small, closed windows network, some disconnected assets, and also provide technical support and guidance to the overall customer mission.

The system administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Their responsibilities include management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure. Their support duties include updating and supporting systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space. They will implement critical patches, and review systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.

This position is responsible for the overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple systems, operating environments, and software. The employee will establish and implement standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software. The candidate will schedule, plan and perform system upgrades. The candidate will collaborate, support, and offer advice to the customer in technical matters related to the organization’s overall mission.

The employee will work both independently, and as part of small teams where they may be the sole cyber/IT expert. They will coordinate as needed with the larger customer organization chief information office (CIO) and help desk, to include resolving issues related to customer devices on the external network, and support of organization-wide policy implementation, audit and inspection. They will support security-related actions for cyber assets and subjects, including digital and multi-media policy and implementation, and infrastructure enhancements or compliance-related requirements. They may coordinate/lead small-to-medium sized projects where system administration functions and responsibilities are a major component.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Continuously maintain the customer’s network, to include updates, upgrades, backups, compliance/vulnerability scans and general maintenance.

  • Close working collaboration with a small integrated team of government customer and Leidos users

  • Managing several classified WAN terminals

  • Develop functional requirements through interaction with our customer’s end-users, coordinate system enhancements or changes, and complete these tasks independently.

  • Develop and define, and present for customer approval, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to achieve the system performance required by our customer organization and compliant with customer organization and larger DoD cyber regulations and policies.

  • Manage (including issuing, upgrades, and disposition) of customer computing and network-related hardware

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science, cybersecurity, or other STEM field)

  • Minimum of 8 yrs overall Systems experience and at least two years as a Windows System Administrator or equivalent

  • DA 8570, IAT Level II certification. IAT LII certification requires completion of one of the following certifications (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, and SSCP); additional information listed at: https://public.cyber.mil/cw/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/

  • Must possess a current Top Secret clearance and be eligible for Special Access read-on post-hire.

  • Speak, read, and write fluently in the English language.

  • General proficiency with MS Office suite tools, including: Word, Power Point, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an ISSO (Information Assurance officer) or cybersecurity officer

  • Experience working on site in a DOD customer office (including within the Army Research Lab)

  • Experience with Army Information Assurance and accreditation procedures, including record keeping, self-audits and inspections

  • Prior experience with networks that span multiple security classification levels

  • Current IAT Level II certification recorded in the Army Training and Certification Tracking System (ACTCS)

  • Experience with both Windows and LINUX operating systems
