Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a Sys Admin. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a willingness to learn. The position will include troubleshooting of complex issues, and working with system users to document problems and work toward a resolution. The position also requires strong interpersonal and communications skills for interfacing with a variety of customers and system users. The candidate will be part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and will be responsible for all aspects of administration and support for several mission-critical systems and networks.
Typical duties include:
Organize, coordinate and facilitate meetings that support user accounts
Generate and update meeting minutes and action items
Analyze official customer traffic for requirements for services for accounts
Create, delete, review and manage/update user accounts
Analyze trends, using both raw data and established metrics
Create documentation as requested in support of user accounts
Interface with the customer in support of requirements gathering efforts
Provide ad hoc training support
Maintain/update user accounts in the customer’s database
Perform data input, data collection and research; retrieve information or documents from the customer databases as well as the internet
Provide O&M support to systems
Propose innovations that leverage existing system capabilities in new ways for enhanced O&M
Maintain awareness of technical trends for strategic consideration in current/future systems
Identify technical risks to systems and develop mitigation strategies
Define processes, policies, and procedures for all aspects of system administration
Extensive interface with users requiring technical support
Collection and analysis of key metrics
Follow through on all Incident or Service request tickets
Provide specific and detail status on all tickets being worked
Create and maintain all documentation (i.e. SOPs, etc.)
Presentations to customers and management to explain technical issues
Required Skills:
Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of experience in system administration; additional experience in lieu of degree
1+ years hands-on experience with Linux systems administration
1+ years specific knowledge of server infrastructure, configuration, performance tuning
Ability to learn VMware systems
Knowledge of IC system security standards and INFOSEC processes and boards
Ability to learn Windows Server and/or Linux
Knowledge of Active Directory
Knowledge regarding data backup technologies
Ability to self-direct and coordinate others efforts in project tasking’s and investigate issues under limited supervision
Ability to communicate to internal and external customers
Knowledge of or ability to learn server driven applications and databases
Knowledge of or ability to learn comparing established security and availability management policies to effectively select the proper user accesses
Proven excellent interpersonal skills, to include building and maintaining interdepartmental relationships
Capability of briefing senior management on user account statuses
Experience using Configuration Management best practices
Experience reading official traffic
Must be able sit, stand, bend, and lift and maneuver 50 lbs daily, sometimes in confined spaces.
