Systems Engineer/ Analyst

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Dahlgren, VA.


Like learning about new systems and leading edge weapon systems capabilities? Come learn and explore new technologies, new software, new hardware, and development tools in support of the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile Program. Along the way, advise the Government by researching new concepts and technologies and developing new Fleet capabilities. Help design, review and contribute to the Navy's new system.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide Systems Engineering support for the evaluation of new concepts and designs for SLBM groups at NSWCDD supporting Strategic Systems Programs.

  • Perform a range of analysis or review tasks related to new designs and implementations of the Strategic Weapons System.

  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering and management disciplines to define new requirements.

  • Support System Engineering related meetings and track project status.

  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.

  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from concept design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards related to cyber.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the PWS, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.

  • Experience:

    • Six (6) years of engineering experience with a DoD major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems program.

    • Experience in concept definition, DoDAF compliant architecture development, requirements definition, and initial and detailed system design activities.

    • Systems engineering experience focused on requirements development and management of software systems. This includes experience related to the identification, analysis, and documentation of complex systems involving DOD weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems.

    • Two (2) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface or submarine shipboard weapons, combat, and/or fire control systems to include current Navy programs such as SLBM and Aegis.

  • Must have an active/current Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) or other SLBM organizations

  • Operational experience with the Strategic Weapons System and service onboard and SSBN or SSGN.
