What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Network Systems Organization is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with a product development mindset to join the Shared Platform team. As part of the Shared Platform team you will be the product owner of the platform, called Canvas. You will be responsible for managing a technical team consisting of engineering and architecture functions. In this role, you will primarily focus on planning and designing new features, enhancements and maintenance for the Canvas platform part of the Shared Services team in Network Systems.

You will also be in charge of developing the marketplace within the Shared Platform, this marketplace will hold all the reusable/self-service products that can be utilized by the network systems developer community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Architecting and developing effective and efficient solutions and building reusable components that the whole Network Systems team can utilize to solve the business challenges.
  • Analyzing shared platform adoption data and providing intelligence to increase the adoption rate of the shared platform.
  • Working with user concerns and quickly and acting upon them as creative solutions.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in application development, systems engineering, and technology management.
  • Managing release schedules and accountability to deliver projects on time in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Contributing technically and own architectural oversight of system/services.
  • Contributing to a culture focused outward on the customer, with speed and agility.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in developing and optimizing server architectures.
  • Experience in developing scalable, availability systems with disaster recovery.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Angular, React, and JQuery/JS.
  • Good communication skills.
  • AWS certification.
  • Experience in UI code analysis and debugging skills.
  • Experience in Java/Spring boot, Go Lang, and Rest APIs.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and Postgre SQL Queries.
  • Experience in using DevOps toolset.
  • Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Security etc.
  • Experience in migrating applications to Cloud and hands-on in K8s.
  • Knowledge of Security best practices, OWASP vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and tracking against the capital plans.
  • Experience in of leading multiple teams and products.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
