Leidos has an excellent opportunity for an Human Systems Integration Engineer to work on NASA’s Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) in support of the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP). EHP is comprised of multiple projects that are focused on the development of Extravehicular Activity (EVA) suits that will be worn by NASA astronauts during Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Exploration space missions and the development of rovers for the crew to use on the lunar surface.

This position supports Human Health and Performance (HH&P) and Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) and works with a team of integrators and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who collaborate to ensure EHP projects meet NASA HMTA standards. The Human Systems Engineer understands the human health and performance requirements and coordinates among SMEs, commercial vendors, and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives. This role interfaces with HMTA and JSC HHP Division personnel, Program and Project personnel, and commercial vendors to ensure Human Systems Integration strategies are implemented and efficiently support Human Spaceflight Programs.

This position is located on site at The Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

Must have US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to succesfully obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain working knowledge of HMTA Standards and commercial vendor implementation of applicable HMTA Standards to ensure requirements are met.
  • Identify issues related to HHP that impact EVA suits, rovers, and the missions where they will be used; coordinate discussion and communicate among appropriate personnel for collaboration in support of established end goal.
  • Facilitate designated meetings with HMTA, HHP Management, HHP technical SMEs, EHP Program / Project personnel, and commercial vendors. Provide meeting notes to communicate relevant information to the HMTA/HHP team.
  • Coordinate and participate in Program and Project document and design reviews. Identify areas to streamline processes and proactively resolve issues that may impact completion of tasks.
  • Develop and deliver presentations for meetings including: HMTA, NASA Human Spaceflight Program, HHP, and internal team.
  • Assure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan and Quality Assurance plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering and 4+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Knowledge of human systems engineering methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including: delivering presentations, writing reports, facilitating meetings
  • Proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting NASA Programs
  • Experience with human systems requirements and verification in human spaceflight vehicle design
  • Experience with human factors activities such as human-in-the-loop tests and task analyses
  • Knowledge of NASA’s Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU)
  • Knowledge of disciplines within human health and performance
  • Familiarity with NASA’s Human System Standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and human space flight

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
