Leidos currently has an opening for a versatile Systems Engineer to support system development, operations, and maintenance for a U.S. Army customer in the National Capital Region.
Position is located in Alexandria, VA and requires an active DoD secret clearance.
Job Summary
The system, used to audio/video record and store data, is transitioning between the current system and the next generation system. The systems engineer will support operations and maintenance of the current system as well as support development and deployment of the next generation system. In addition, support is needed to transition to the next generation system for operations and training and provide ongoing support to end users both INCONUS and OCONUS.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain legacy system and support development of next generation system.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot systems using Linux, Windows, VMWare, and SQL.
Implement code fixes to integrated software and perform unit and integration testing.
Develop deployment strategies and schedule for software and system upgrades including transition from legacy to next generation software.
Provide support to local Government site for installation, testing, and demonstration tasks.
Participate in site survey activities and recommend installation solutions to support end user requirements.
Make recommendations for system hardware upgrades.
Support CONUS and OCONUS locations for software and system maintenance. Provide technical “reach-back” support responding to problems reported by end users and coordinating with operators and engineering team to resolve issues.
Support information assurance tasks including ATO accreditation requirements; required updates to maintain compliance as system changes are made; reviewing STIGs and tracking and resolving open findings; and applying routine operating system and application updates to address system vulnerabilities.
Support documentation development for technical and operational users.
Creatively problem solve; conduct research to resolve issues or evaluate proposed solutions; resolve issues with application of different tools.
Bring best practice engineering practices to team performance.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Secret clearance with ability to qualify for TS/SCI
BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Versatile skillset with breadth across operating systems, networking, hardware/software maintenance, and customer support.
Operating Systems: Linux, Windows, VMWare
Scripting: AutoIt, Bash, Perl
Programming: familiarity with C, BASIC, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS
Database: SQLite
Windows Command Interpreter (CMD)
Tools: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
Encryption: AESCrypt
Preferred Qualifications:
Security+ certification
Familiarity with audio/video recording technologies
