We are in search of a system engineering to join a Leidos business and help support us in our ambitious growth plans for the beginning of 2022. The successful Systems Engineer will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, will have prior experience as a Systems Engineer on a major programme involving accepting and integrating deliveries from suppliers. Using their experience in Systems Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with customers and suppliers to execute Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle, with specific focus on Model Based Systems Engineering.

Over the last 20+ years the TDL Portfolio within Leidos has been supporting numerous Nations and Industry partners providing technical and Subject Matter Experts (SME) across a whole raft of activities associated with the integration, test, verification and validation for TDLs.

Leidos UK have developed a full suite of test tools to support the engineering life-cycles from requirements capture/management (eSMART), real-time message analysis (CIVET), Link 16 terminal control (PUMA) and post mission analysis (MANDRIL). Leidos UK are the formal European reseller of Northrop Grumman MTDL simulation/emulation TIGER tool which integrates seamlessly into our test environment.

Specific Job Description:

Leidos UK are fortunate to have a number of interesting Multiple Tactical Data Link (MTDL) related opportunities which will require additional personnel to join and support our dedicated TDL portfolio. Opportunities to support a Link 16 sustainment programme, a MTDL system refresh, upgrade and support along with various long term enhancement programmes. Additionally we also have Subject Matter Expert (SME) support opportunities to a number of new contracts.

The successful candidate will work as part of a Data Link Portfolio Team performing a range of system engineering tasks across the development lifecycle for TDLs. The employee will require an in-depth understanding of Link 16 terminals and ancillary equipment. Be cognisant with the respective interfaces (SIMPLE, JREAP, Ethernet, MIL-STD 1553) and the associated cabling/configuration requirements for use in a TDL test environment.

The job on occasion may require customer site attendance to conduct various test activities in accordance with the contracted requirements. Successful candidates will be expected to apply their knowledge of TDL systems and test engineering best practice in the performance of their duties and be responsible for ensuring test compliance standards are met by the application of appropriate processes, procedures and tools throughout the development lifecycle.

The position will be full-time within the existing TDL team providing technical, test and integration support.

Required Skills:

· Detailed understanding of source documentation for Multi-TDLs – Message Standards and Terminal ICDs

· Good knowledge/experience of TDL Testing and platform implementation

· Knowledge of system engineering applied to TDL environment

· Use/knowledge of TDL test tools – desktop, rig testing and live testing

· Experience of TDL Terminals/Modems

· Experience of TDL Architecture(s) - multiple platforms, host, radios, terminals, crypto

· Ability to produce technical reports with recommendations

Desired Skills:

· Understanding of the iSMART process and associated eSMART documentation

· Experience in conducting TDL Testing

· Knowledge of military communications systems

· Appreciation of system design & integration challenges

· Knowledge of the TDL toolset; eSMART, CIVET, MANDRIL, TIGER (Northrop Grumman)

Typical Minimum Education & Experience:

Individuals with higher education qualifications and/or relevant military operational or related engineering experience will be considered.
