When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

What you’ll be doing...

Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS) – Global Network Management (GNM) will be a Lead Engineer for the Messaging infrastructure and the anti-abuse applications that protect it. The PMTS will work closely with cross functional teams (i.e. Planning, Security, Design and VCP) and collaborate on optimal solutions for current and future anti-spam / anti-abuse projects. You will possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Moreover, the PMTS will mentor other team members and groups. They should be self-starter and require little to no assistance in activities around application virtualization, instantiation and orchestration. The PMTS will detect and resolve issues in a proactive manner before they can impact the platform and/or customer. You must have a working knowledge of “Agile Mindset” and adapt quickly to fluid environments.

  • Lead the processes around the lifecycle of messaging abuse where data collection and analysis are necessary to mitigate future attack vectors.
  • Execute engineering type activities around planning, building and running applications as they move from PNF to VNF on the Verizon Cloud Platform where we place heavy emphasis on the practical use of VNFM and Orchestration.
  • Focus primarily on messaging technology and messaging anti-spam / anti-abuse, so any experience with SMTP (Email), SMPP (SMS) and SIP (RCS) security will be extremely beneficial.

Where you'll be working:

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven programming / scripting capabilities.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Six or more years of experience in the wireless or telecommunication industry.
  • Email AntiSpam experience and/or security solutions specialties.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Computing (OpenStack, KVM, VMWare).
  • Working knowledge of IP Networking, VPN’s, DNS, routing, load balancing and firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS.
  • Strong software development (e.g. C++, Java) capability.
  • Experience with distributed storage solutions (Ceph, Swift, other).
  • Working knowledge of Programming / Scripting Skills (Perl, Python, Ruby).
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols.
  • DBMS troubleshooting skill set.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Working Knowledge of Capacity Planning and Performance.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Presents ideas in a logical and compelling manner to both small and large groups.
