IntroductionIBM is seeking highly motivated and experienced procurement professionals with a minimum of 7 years of strategic sourcing experience, preferably with 4+ years sourcing Fleet and Logistics categories. The candidate should possess extensive experience sourcing in areas such as: Fleet Management, Vehicle Leases, Fuel, Tires, Warehousing, Packaging, and Freight (Ocean, Air, Truckload, LTL, Small Parcel).The role is client facing and the selected candidate will join IBM's Procurement Services consulting team.The procurement professional will be an individual contributor capable of working in a matrixed organization; creating and successfully disseminating sourcing strategies tailored specifically for each engagement, identifying and sourcing goods and service providers in various regions for specific procurement projects, leading and developing requests for proposals using rigorous techniques and/or negotiation(s), overseeing and managing bidders during the procurement cycle, analyzing and scoring supplier responses utilizing objective techniques and criteria, documenting and presenting award recommendations to corporate management teams, and leading and finalizing contract negotiations on behalf of Clients.The procurement professional should also be capable of creating industry and category insights to assist in the development of the client's overall Category Strategy.This is a client facing role and requires significant travel (75% travel).Your Role and ResponsibilitiesYour Role and Responsibilities:In this procurement consulting role, the Category Manager will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of category strategies for our clients. Above and beyond strategic sourcing activities, the Category Manager understands external variables, learns the internal landscape of our clients (requirements, organizational structure, priorities) and develops relationships to successfully develop category strategies that utilize various value levers to deliver improved cost, reduced risk, and more efficient programs to our clients.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:+ Develops category strategies for the assigned areas of responsibility.+ Builds relationships with client stakeholders such that Category Manager can demonstrate value in continued engagement, can challenge the client stakeholders when fruitful, and can bring additional subject matter expertise+ Identifies cost savings opportunities across the client's Fleet and Logistics spend categories+ Acts as a trusted advisor and SME in the areas of sourcing and negotiating contracts within Fleet & Logistics+ Achieves cost savings, risk mitigation, and process efficiencies through various value levers+ Leads supplier selection process across multiple subsets of the category, with various scope and client stakeholder groups+ Leads negotiations with current and potential suppliers as part of the contract renewal or vendor selection process+ Collects and analyzes internal/external category data, metrics, and reports to track performance against targets+ Able to analyze multiple data sets to identify opportunities and category insights+ Participates in category councils and business reviews to support collaboration, knowledge sharing, opportunity identification, and overall relationship development+ Innovates within the procurement space; looks at new ways to structure programs or categories, benefits from changes in supply market, or modifies tools/processes to add value+ Provides support throughout the sourcing and contracting process when necessary, ensuring seamless handoff to our clients when appropriateRequired Technical and Professional Expertise+ A minimum of 7 years of strategic sourcing experience, preferably with 4+ years sourcing Fleet and Logistics categories+ Extensive experience sourcing in areas such as: Fleet Management, Vehicle Leases, Fuel, Tires, Warehousing, Packaging, and Freight (Ocean, Air, Truckload, LTL, Small Parcel)+ Travel up to 75%Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise+ Degree in Business, Law, Supply Chain Management or other applicable field+ Previous experience in a client facing / consultative role+ NoneAbout Business UnitIBM Global Procurement has the responsibility for achieving the best overall value for IBM and our clients when acquiring or contracting goods, services, and intellectual property assets.
