Senior Project Leader - Logistics

**Description:****Position Summary:**Manage and coordinate the implementation of projects that can have multi-site and division-wide impact which may require cross-functional involvement with PL, PTL, customers, vendors and suppliers. Responsible for the formalization of comprehensive project plans, clarifying timelines, milestones, goals and ownership. Lead meetings ensuring effectiveness of plans, cost implications and quality of solutions. Facilitate the deployment and sustainment of the Penske Logistics Quality System with operational departments at assigned locations. Lead Quality System training on lean and quality related concepts, tools and methodology. Support operational locations with Quality System auditing, report scorecards, and assisting in the creation of action plans to close identified gaps and continuously improve processes. Serve as an expert resource for the location(s) in implementing the Penske Kaizen program to foster associate engagement in process improvement and track performance based on participation and cost avoidance / value achieved to targets**Major Responsibilities:****People:**-Provide leadership to team members in identifying project risks early and guide them in developing appropriate mitigation plans.-Intervene when necessary to resolve issues between project managers, operations, functional teams and customers.-Develop rapport with the Operations Manager and Supervisor levels of assigned locations, ensuring these key stakeholders understand the value of Lean business practices**Safety:**-Instill in the operations team(s) that safe performance is a critical element required to achieve success and is recognized as an indicator of management effectiveness.-Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.-Partner with Operations Management to ensure safety steps are incorporated into the operational processes and documented in SOPs**Operations:**-Lead project scope development and options analysis.-Review Operations process documents, problem solving and process improvement projects and provide coaching on how to enhance the documentation and the processes themselves to incorporate Lean principles and improve performance and service.-Assist Operations in directing all phases of programs from inception through completion.-Support Operations in ensuring IT infrastructure and systems are implemented and working properly**Growth / Customer Experience:**-Work closely with customer's leadership and project team during scope development and option analysis phase.-Manage the clients' expectations regarding Penskes satisfactory performance & project execution.-Enhance the customer experience through the touch points with the Quality System including customer involved process improvement projects, visibility to Kaizen ideas implemented and sharing procedure documentation when appropriate.-Identify future opportunities for process enhancement and value generation.**Finance:**-Thoroughly review any project budgets for accuracy and report inconsistencies and analysis.-Closely manage resources and expenses to meet forecasted budgets.-Continually evaluate projects to assess whether deliverables will meet customer needs at the contractual rates.-Support operations in achieving their business plan through waste elimination and achieving cost avoidance improvements through Kaizen and avoiding errors and accidents through increased process consistency**Qualifications:****Qualifications:**-3 years of multiple supply chain service line experience (Transportation, Warehousing, LLP, etc) preferred-5 years of Project Management (PM) experience required-Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree and/or PM & Lean certifications preferred-Strong analytical, influencing, written/oral communication and organizational skills required-Relevant computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
