PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Hostling trailers/containers/Chassis throughout the terminal as identified by the Supervisor Operations in support of efficient train operations.
  • Perform visual inspection of Intermodal equipment, for damages/defects and report.
  • Update Oasis/TMS systems as required

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Hostling Trailers/containers/chassis to and from within each Terminal in support of terminal operations and equipment maintenance (including but not limited to: shunting of bad order units that require repair, units in Perishable Protective Service (“PPS” units) that require inspection or fuel, dirty units that require cleaning, and units in support of repositioning, etc.);
  • Hostling shipments to and from co-located customers, adjacent to each Terminal location;
  • Updating information systems immediately as work is completed;
  • Ensuring that the trailers/containers/chassis are parked in such a manner as to permit easy attachment of lifting equipment and/or equipment taking delivery of the trailers/containers /chassis;
  • Perform inspections (i.e., adequate circle-checks) when required of equipment;
  • Ensure any movement within the Terminal or at adjacent customer locations, the chassis locking pins are in accordance with processes and/or policy in place;
  • Facilitating yard operations and maintenance by repositioning equipment within the Terminal when required. These activities shall include but will not be limited to clearing equipment from specific areas to allow for activities such as yard maintenance or snow removal;
  • Assisting with light duty general operational issues and yard maintenance with personnel and/or equipment when personnel and/or equipment are available. These tasks may include but are not limited to the use of magnet attachment to pick up metal debris or short-term gate assistance;
  • Other miscellaneous duties as/when required;
  • This is a safety-sensitive position within an environment of heavy equipment and constant traffic flow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must have High School or equivalent;
  • Possess advanced reading and writing skills, including the ability to follow advanced written instruction and/or training in skills such as driving;
  • Be in possession of a valid driver licenses.
