Monsanto Compliance and Stewardship Lead in JUANADIAZ, Puerto Rico

The Monsanto Breeding site in Juana Diaz Puerto Rico is seeking a full-time position working in a matrix-based environment to provide leadership across a diverse range of regulatory and stewardship responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Breeding, Biotech, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance, stewardship, and adoption of quality management systems in our operations in Juana Diaz.

Key Business Responsibilities:

  • Enable the global product pipelines and contribute to securing Freedom To Operate (FTO) by leading oversight of stewardship and compliance in all aspects of the operations at the site from planning operations to shipping seeds to testing locations

  • Conduct management reviews and represent the site on stewardship support, audits, and guidance for management of regulated and stewarded nurseries

  • Develop and maintain an evolving product stewardship and quality management strategy, inclusion of validation through auditing, to meet the business needs of an integrated system of products

  • Effectively connect with Breeding Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance teams to drive common stewardship culture, policies and practices

  • Work collaboratively with agronomy team to gain alignment on sustainable production systems

  • Fulfill existing products regulatory requirements and engage with industry/academic/extension services to communicate Monsanto perspective

  • Coordinate and support incident response process on regulatory compliance related to Monsanto products

  • Support Trait Quality programs and initiatives; and support and improve existing compliance information technology systems


  • BS/BA in a biological, agricultural, or related field with a minimum of 5 years work related experience

  • Strong foundation in quality systems and quality systems management.

  • Significant experience leading through influence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of visitors and colleagues

  • Experience leading process development and revision

  • Experience in the implementation and on-going maintenance of continuous quality improvement culture in a production environment with experience in risk identification, prevention, and management

  • Knowledge of statistical methodologies, data analysis and visualizations is preferred

  • Knowledge of seed testing methods (genetic, physiology, seed health) preferred.
