Merck IT Program Change Lead in Kenilworth, New Jersey

Job Description

Our Company’s Global IT Organization is undergoing a transformation of unprecedented magnitude and complexity in order to drive increased business and customer value. The changes span all divisions, functional and levels of IT. The IT Change Program Leader will be accountable for ensuring that IT and Fortify transformation initiatives will be successfully integrated, implemented and realized to achieve the IT Strategy and Fortify objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and lead change strategy; manage transformation road map (initiatives, dependencies and adjustments to plan); manage change communications strategy and plan; drive cultural change and track progress against organizational health metrics.

Lead Development of Change Strategy

  • Establish the strategic vision, direction and priorities of the Technology Management Organization and define the model for engagement with enterprise stakeholders

  • Inspire shared vision across the organization for IT transformation

  • Develop and track organizational health metrics, including key leading indicators, to assess progress/risk and quickly propose appropriate responses

  • Recommend focused and action-oriented plans and solutions through the synthesis of Voice of Business (IT and business), data and competitive benchmarks

Manage transformation road map

  • Integrate multiple change initiatives—those being driven by IT, Fortify and business partners, and ensure proper sequencing and clear, consistent communications

  • Manage ongoing ideation and intake of initiatives for IT transformation from across the organization

  • Gain visibility into other organizational priorities / activities and devise contingency plans to address resource, funding or other organizational hurdles

Drive action for continuous improvement

  • Assess leading indicators of organizational health to measure progress and identify risks, proposing appropriate actions quickly to ensure continuous improvement . Assessment to include ongoing Voice of Business (IT and enterprise) and bench marking.

  • Guide team in assessing, prioritizing and sequencing sprints/solutions to overcome biggest barriers to transformation (e.g., processes, governance, mindsets)

Define and manage change communications plan

  • Develop change communications plan (IT and enterprise), in collaboration with business partners, ITLT, SLN and Strategy & Realization Communications Lead

Drive cultural change to realize the IT Operating Model

  • Cultivate a culture that helps realize the IT Operating Model and the Fortify Ways of Working

  • Create an environment that embraces experimentation, failing fast, applying the learning, and collaborating with speed

Travel will be required (10-20 %).

Education and Skills Required

  • BA or BS

  • MBA preferred but not required

Minimum Experience Required

  • Min 10 - 15 years business experience; 5 years driving large organizational change initiatives- strategy, execution, and realization

Skills/Knowledge Preferred

  • Subject matter expertise regarding change strategy, implementation and realization

  • Drive for results – Strong planning and project management skills

  • History of strong horizontal collaboration and alignment with leadership across functions and divisions

  • High level of organizational savvy and maturity

  • Delivers customer value - committed to understanding and meeting customer needs

  • Communicates candidly and clearly - strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Executive presence and influencing skills

  • People management experience and success developing employees
