CBRE Building Operator (Temporary Position) in Kingston, Ontario

Fantastic job opportunity in Kingston, ON located at reputable, local healthcare facility. Seeking a general Maintenance Technician to join the GWS Real Estate Services Inc. Team, a subsidiary of CBRE Limited.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, building systems, equipment and grounds. This position assists in maintaining and monitoring building system operations and performance utilizing several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating and cooling. Work is completed under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Maintains, operates, and repairs (within ability) HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, lighting, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds. Inspects building systems to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves operational conditions prescribed by client. Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Responds quickly to emergency situations, identifying additional resources as needed. Reviews historical maintenance records to assist in developing proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedules.

Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.

Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building systems/equipment and furniture.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training. Previous experience in a Health Care or institutional environment would be considered an asset.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Certification in one or more of the following: Electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, painting, plumbing, carpentry or fire alarm systems would be considered highly desirable for this role.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
