Primary Role
Responsible for all aspects of meter service including, but not limited to meter reading, repair, installation, removal, and testing. This includes reading assigned meter routes, loading and unloading meter reading routes, installing remote meter reading devices, completing new services, meter settings and high bill inspections; turning services on and off, serving notices, collecting water samples, locating and repairing stop boxes, valve boxes, and meter boxes; painting/inspecting fire hydrants, investigating and reporting leaks on service lines, mains, hydrants and valves; maintaining meter history records, cleaning maintaining, and organizing work area, assigned vehicle, and meter shop; and any other duties as assigned by management.

Individuals hired into this classification will permanently report to either Kokomo Indiana or Sheridan Indiana based upon the location the job is posted. However, individuals in this job can work assignments at either location once he or she has received all applicable training and certifications needed to perform at the other location.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Travel Requirements
Primary Work location either Sheridan IN or Kokomo IN based upon posting at time of job opening, with limited travel within the state to attend training, meetings, etc.
Work Environment
Performs routine tasks which may involve exiting a vehicle; lifting, dragging, carrying and exerting force up to 40 pounds or greater; climbing over and pulling oneself over obstacles; jumping down from elevated surfaces, climbing through openings; jumping over obstacles; crawling in confined areas; balancing on uneven work surfaces.
