Accountable for all day to day asset commercial and business execution activities in Kuwait. Work closely with the assets and global commercial community on maturing new business development opportunities and related strategy. The role includes direct support to the Kuwait Shell Country Chair on all day to day business aspects in relation to Shell’s objectives and growth strategy in Kuwait. The commercial manager is required to build intimate, constructive long-term relationships with the Assets and business stakeholders in their portfolio and will be the sole interface to coordinate all central support activities (UPP, P&T and other Global Functions) delivered to the asset.

Provide support and strategic advice on business environment trends and Business Relations/Reputation Management processes/principles to the CCh and to representatives of Shell Businesses working in or visiting Kuwait
Maintain a close ongoing interface and working relationship with the ETSA leadership and KOC counterparts to ensure effective and proactive execution of Shell’s contractual rights and obligations are met from a business and commercial perspective.
Lead the asset commercial activities such as all lumpsum agreements within the ETSAs. Obtain SRB/DRB mandates and formalize the agreements with KOC.
Play a leading role in driving NBD activities to meet Shell’s growth agenda. Act as Business Opportunity manager (BOM) for selected NBD opportunities.
Transformation lead for Fit for the Future initiative.
Attend and play a leading role in relevant commercial meetings as well as cross-business committees in Country (e.g. CCT, Risk & Assurance Committee) and coordinate with global commercial deal teams and opportunity team from in Country.
Leading role in the overall co-ordination of the various strands of cross-business workstream activity emanating from the KPC/Shell MoU and any subsequent agreements (e,g KOC/Shell/SKEP)
Provide active support to global business, SILS, SGSI, Criterion, etc. and support their business delivery.
Monitor and work commercial issues in partnership with stakeholders in diverse companies in Kuwait.
Ability to persevere and deliver in a very complex commercial and political environment; where fractions and position change frequently
Prioritising, managing and processing a large number of issues in parallel, ranging from business audits to progressing commercial initiatives to strategic thinking.
Maintaining a network of contacts throughout the Group and leveraging this to collate necessary insights and information on current and emerging issues.
The successful candidate will have to rapidly create, expand and utilise effective networks, both within Kuwait and across Shell.
Ability to apply a careful balance between governance (high level strategic direction) and service provision mindset (customer focus and hands-on work approach) in executing day to day business;
The position offers a large variety of exposure to operational and strategic business issues across Kuwait. The job requires a significant amount of ad-hoc support and can therefore be fairly non-routine and ambiguous at times.
The incumbent is expected to promote and pursue new business opportunities, building on existing Business Relations and focus on:
Supporting Shell Businesses and functions (UI, DS, SILS, P&T) in pursuing and delivering new businesses opportunities;
Monitoring the Kuwaiti business environment for potential business opportunities; in addition to local political developments and their potential impact on the Kuwaiti business environment from an IOC perspective.
Degree or professional qualification in technical discipline and./or business administration with significant work experience in commercial positions in the oil and gas industry.
Minimum 15 years of oil and gas related experience with a solid understanding of the Upstream oil & gas business, its value drivers and; strong business acumen; ability to quickly identify business threats and opportunities.
Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills; strong external and commercial focus.
Arabic language skills highly desirable.
