Job Description

In this position, you will work as a part of a team repairing and maintaining track or the railroad right of way.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Perform construction or maintenance tasks associated with railroad tracks.

•Operate hand-held powered equipment and manual tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Outdoor work experience

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

• Experience operating earth moving equipment in a construction or farming environment

• Welding experience

Union

Track Laborer positions are jobs covered under a collective bargaining agreement and require union membership after a

probationary period. Wages are paid at an hourly rate. Initiation fee and monthly dues are required as per union

In this position, you will work as a part of a team repairing and maintaining track or the railroad right of way. This job entails working outdoors, and 8-10 hour work days. The ability to be on-call for additional after-hours work is required. Job placement and selection is determined by collective bargaining agreements. Due to seniority and the bid/bump process there is potential to be forced to a local or travel gang.

Traveling Group Description: This position requires substantial weekly travel to any of the 22 states in which we operate. The work week typically requires travel to the site on Sunday, working Monday-Thursday, with occasional work on Fridays, and traveling home after the work is completed.

•Walks and stands for extended periods on areas with uneven footing and surface

•Stoops, bends, kneels, crouches, balances occasionally

•May involve overtime including weekends and holidays

•Willingness to travel away from home during work week

•May require lifting in excess of 70 lbs

•Works outside in all types of weather conditions
