Verizon Data Management Specialist in Lake Mary, Florida

What you’ll be doing...

The implementation of Verizon’s new revenue recognition application in 4Q17 requires staffing a production support team to support day to day operations for the Revenue Recognition. This position will be geared to not only support current production for Verizon revenue, but will also work in cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements throughout 2018 and beyond to support Verizon’s ever-changing product and system landscape.

  • Production Operations: Duties include the implementation and maintenance of the new Revenue Recognition process at Verizon. Maintain and execute day-to-day procedures to process data through the Accounting Revenue Recognition Engine (ARRE), and analyze data trends on an ongoing basis.

  • Data Analytics & Analysis: Develop and deliver data-driven solutions to support business needs and analytics. Provide recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility as driven by the business need for knowledge and decision.

  • Information Quality: Ensure Revenue Recognition processes are followed and documented to ensure a high level of data quality flowing through the Revenue Recognition process. Participate in resolving discrepancies to ensure integrity in our financial systems data and processes.

  • Documentation: Assist the team in the ongoing creation and maintenance of documentation related to data processes and business rules. Use a variety of data visualization/presentation tools to support self-service analytics or to aggregate data for management presentations.


  • ARRE Responsibilities include the day-to-day processing of inbound and outbound data flows for the Revenue Recognition system to ensure the continued functionality of Verizon enterprise-level revenue reporting, including the validation and testing of new program initiatives.

  • Solve data and reporting issues using intermediate SQL and other query tools to make logical connections between varied data sources to obtain desired results. Complete ad-hoc data analysis requests. Understand and interpret trends and patterns to develop recommendations and solutions.

  • Gather revenue recognition business requirements and organize the information into understandable documents. Translate business language for IT developers and vice versa. Write clear and concise documentation for the Business and IT.

Work Complexity and Impact

  • Work completed under the immediate supervision of the Lead Consultant.

  • Make tactical, data driven decisions leveraging experience and with consideration to competing priorities. Consult with end-users and respond with solutions.

  • Work to ensure data integrity in the DPL inbound and outbound layers of the ARRE Revenue Recognition process. Use SQL scripts to make logical connections between large numbers of data elements to ensure desired results. Review trends to identify other possible impacts to process or data flowing through the ARRE engine.

  • Solve data and reporting issues within the new Revenue Recognition process. Analyze situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Develop possible solutions and create detailed documentation on the logic of the resolution. Provide feedback to the Lead Consultant on research results.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • BA/BS degree with a concentration in MIS, IT, Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Project Management, or equivalent work experience.

  • 4+ years of related experience in systems projects / end-to-end design.

  • 3+ years of System Processing / Revenue experience / Accounts Receivable experience.

  • Data warehouse experience, using Teradata / Oracle, to analyze financial and operational data.

  • Advanced, demonstrated SQL skills for use in data analysis, ad hoc reporting, and data quality assurance.

  • Experience leading technical enterprise scale projects and managing competing priorities.

  • Experience with billing systems, billing data, revenue systems, revenue assurance/reporting.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, communication and organizational skills.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects/deliverables.
