The Industrial Engineer & Budget Controller has the responsibility to provide recommendations to develop and maintain operational standards and future operations capital needs. Works closely with IPT Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Laboratory and Technical Operation/Support staff to develop and maintain profit plan commitments. This includes operational standards development and periodic update and cost control. Manages and plans strategic industrial engineering services aligned with site initiatives for all continuous improvement activities of the operation. Support problem solving exercises of atypical, complaints or process improvements. Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer MPS skills into the organization. Support the alignment and effective connection (E2E) of site governance processes and Tier structures.

This position is based in Merck Las Piedras and does not include relocation assistance.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Industrial Engineering preferred.

  • Over Two (2) years of experience working with Industrial Engineering, process improvement, production and/or technical areas in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry environment.

  • Previous experience in continuous improvements projects and project management.

  • General knowledge of Supply Chain like Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Packaging, Material Management, Engineering, Technical Operations and the Quality Operations.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish, in oral and written).

  • Computer Literate.

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge in MS Access and Minitab, preferred.

  • Knowledge of Material Flow and Related Control Systems in Manufacturing Environment.

  • Knowledge of office-based and / or production control computer systems.

  • PMI and Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma trained and/or certification, preferred.

  • SAP knowledge, preferred.

  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations.
