New Penn Motor Express Manager of Weight and Inspection in Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Job Purpose Statement

The Weigh & Inspection (W&I) Manager is responsible for managing all W&I activities for New Penn to achieve annual and long range goals. This position is responsible to ensure that New Penn’s reweigh processes and procedures are in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classifications (NMFC). The Manager will be responsible to train and assist field W&I personnel to maintain program integrity.

This position is based in our Lebanon, PA Corporate Office. Some overnight travel to terminal locations throughout New Penn’s Northeast service area is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities* *

  • Manage all W&I activity to achieve annual and long range goals

  • Responsible for reweigh processes/procedures and inspection of customer shipments

  • Knowledge of the NMFTA’s National Motor Freight Classifications

  • Responsible to stay current on changes to motor freight class codes

  • Train and assist field W&I Inspectors to maintain program integrity

  • Promote positive communications with all W&I staff

  • Assist W&I staff at remote locations to resolve complex issues

  • Review customer disputes and provide proper resolution

  • Make adjustments to Bills of Lading

  • Enter corrections to Bills of Lading in AS400 system

  • Assist Account Managers with NMFC guidance

  • Complete density studies for Pricing and Traffic Departments

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or related field, OR equivalent experience.

  • Ability to deal with and manage multiple projects

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Practical knowledge of root cause analysis

  • Proven ability to use Mainframe applications and MS Office
