WindStream Communications Engineer II-Planning in Lexington, Kentucky

The Engineer will fulfill a non-supervisory role within the Network Access Planning organization. The position will support CLEC capacity planning functions within Access Planning team. The engineer will primarily focus on CLEC access circuits, co-lo equipment management, and monitoring backhaul capacity. The engineer must be proficient in all Windstream inventory systems and capacity reporting tools. The output of this work will be a planning package that is directed to a design engineering team for implementation of the plan(s) through the procurement and installation of necessary network equipment.

Desired Qualifications:

Relevant engineering and / or planning experience in areas including inter-discipline network transport, SONET, DWDM, central office common systems (power, common terminations, office infrastructure, alarms), Outside Plant (OSP) and general telecommunications engineering principles. Additional requirements include knowledge of transport network planning processes and associated data analysis and timing and sizing principles.

Education and Experience:

College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2-4 years professional level experience; or 6 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
