Oracle Software Development Director in Liberty Corner, New Jersey

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Director of Software Development

Oracle's Global Business Units (GBUs) provide best-in-class products and services to the communications, construction and engineering, food and beverage, financial services and insurance, health sciences, hospitality, public sector, and retail industries.

The GBU Technology Services team defines, builds and supports common services that the GBUs use to deliver their products and services. We need a talented, multi-faceted Director of Development who has the vision and expertise to lead development activities across multiple domain areas including Business Analytics, Machine Learning, Search, Digital Assistants and other emerging technologies.

A successful candidate will have a passion for driving common approaches and services in emerging technologies to GBU Development teams across the world.

Qualifications & Previous Experience

  • 7 years of development management experience

  • 10 years of full stack development experience with at least 5 years in cloud environments

  • Strong experience with Agile sprint-based development practices.

  • Prior experience in managing teams responsible for cloud services operations

  • Committment to quality-improvement processes (SOP, CAPA, Incident Management, etc.).

  • Extensive experience with cloud native applications, micro-services architectures and development workflows.

  • Extensive experience with: Java, Spring, REST APIs, RDBMS, IaaS

  • Experience with Containers / Kubernetes, and Kafka

  • Ability to lead teams in framing and solving difficult problems.

  • Ability to work efficiently on several initiatives and projects at once, often with ambiguity and varying timelines.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.

  • Masters or Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related field
