Transdev Materials Manager in Lombard, Illinois

Overview

The Materials Manager will lead the Technical Service group’s effort in providing the best value and timely supply of goods and services while controlling the costs and improving the efficiency of inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices and procedures to control and manage the supply of materials

  • Provide new location start ups with a determination of required materials, organization of parts room and implementation of corporate policies and procedures

  • Create and assist in the management of standard parts room configuration and process

  • Development and training of parts room personnel

  • Monitor inventory performance and trends

  • Create and manage a national warranty claims program

  • Create and manage a core program

  • Assist with the disposal of inventory

  • Implement inventory controls

  • Assist in determining the requirements and specifications of materials to be sourced

  • Perform audits on materials management processes

  • Implement Corporate established vendor agreements into the field

  • Monitor compliance to Corporate established vendor agreements

  • Analyze the internal needs for goods and services

  • Responsible for the sourcing and bidding of spare parts, tires and lubricants and other direct materials and services used by maintenance

  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment

  • Assist with RTA training and administrative work as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • College Degree in Finance/ Business or an appropriate combination of education and or a minimum of five years of work experience

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills

  • Working experience in the Maintenance and or Procurement fields would be beneficial.

  • Possess a high level of motivation with the ability to operate under minimal supervision and guidance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience with constructing Excel Pivot tables from complex queries.

  • Experience in transportation is preferred.

  • Excellent team building and project management skills.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand problems and to determine the appropriate measures it takes to solve problems.

Travel Requirement - 20% for off-site location meetings, trade shows and conferences

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is generally done sitting at a desk, utilizing repetitive hand and wrist motion.

  • Lifting, stooping, pulling, and bending is required.

  • 90% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.

  • 5% is done remotely using modems, laptops, e-mail and the Internet.
