The Content Curation Manager is responsible for the ongoing organisation, maintenance, and sharing of content in support of Pearson’s English & Global Schools Portfolios. Curated content will enhance and supplement original content acquired and developed by content developers. The Content Curation Manager will also be responsible for determining content curation standards and success criteria. To do this, the Content Curation Manager will:

  • Determine the standards a piece of content must meet in order to be considered for curation

  • Define what successful content curation looks like for the English & Schools Portfolios and the metrics needed to track this success (see Establish & champion Content Creation principles below)

  • Manage the alignment of existing and future content to the above curation standards, working with external vendors

  • Support content development teams in locating and re-using curated content as part of the overall business content strategy (see Manage the alignment and curation of existing and original content below)

  • Ensure that the technical and workflow requirements needed to enable content curation are captured, understood and delivered by technical teams (see Technical & process requirements below)

Establish and champion Content Curation principles

  • Support the Content Development, Curriculum Design and Production Directors in spearheading the content curation strategy and analysing its effectiveness and sustainability

  • Ensure alignment between original and curated content in terms of quality, format, standards, etc

  • Support content developers in understanding the principles of integrating curated content into their products

Manage the alignment and curation of existing and original content

  • Manage the alignment / conversion of existing content to defined standards to be considered for curation, including quality, budget and schedule

  • Support Content Developers in ensuring that new content is commissioned to defined standards to support content curation

  • Proactively manage library of curated content for use in new products & services

  • Support Content Developers in locating and using curated content to support and enhance original content

Technical and process requirements:

  • Facilitate the use of content enrichment tools such as the Learning Objectives Management Tool (LOMT) to enable content curation through diligent administration of the data, user-access, and training requirements

  • seek and document business requirements arising from new requests/projects

  • identify and address gaps in the data and liaise with external data agencies and other business units to supply this data

  • perform and troubleshoot the ingestion of new data to support portfolio users

  • support the activities of portfolio staff and freelance SMEs to perform content alignments and run reports

  • Manage the backlog of development requirements of Pearson’s content enrichment toolset and support the further build-out and integration of related tools and workflows to support content curation

  • Maintain the knowledge database and training materials for tools by:

  • ensuring training materials and workflow documents are up to date, useful and accessible

  • work with the technology teams to identify and address gaps and new needs for training materials to support users

Supervisory responsibilities:

Supervise in-house Content Curation Specialists, freelancers and vendors through continuous monitoring of quality and deadlines; Give frequent and comprehensive feedback

  • University/College degree (BA, BSc or equivalent)


  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines, remaining pragmatic and results-focused.

  • Ability to be flexible, ability to multitask effectively

  • Ability to learn new software, including proprietary software and apps, and to troubleshoot

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with education, linguistics / teaching background a plus

  • Sound business and technical acumen, with the ability to navigate a complex and highly matrixed organization effectively, establishing effective communication lines to multiple stakeholders, managing and supporting change and adoption of new processes and tools

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills

Prior Experience:

  • Experience in managing detailed processes related to digital content and/or data, including:

  • Experience administering and applying a sophisticated data-set

  • Experience working with a software product owner and development team to establish and maintain a backlog of requirements and collaborate on its execution, testing and acceptance.

  • Experience managing a team of freelance resources to ensure timely delivery of data-update projects

  • Experience maintaining and updating a collection of training and workflow documentation, identifying training needs, and delivering training either personally or through facilitation
