Our globally-coordinated team of nearly 600 maritime specialists places approximately US$3 billion in marine premiums globally, identifying cost-effective, often hard-to-find insurance solutions. We help client’s differentiate their risk profile, enabling them to better compete for insurer capacity.
With specialised marine expertise backed by industry-leading data, analytics, and benchmarking, we help determine and prioritise exposures and determine how much risk your balance sheet can comfortably retain. We use technology to develop innovative risk management solutions specifically for the maritime industry. And our dedicated marine claims staff helps to accelerate claims payments to maintain cash flow.
As a Broker within the Marine Hull practice you will be responsible for the profitable handling and growth of existing marine insurance accounts and new business. Working closely with Servicing Teams, Placement Specialists and Insurers to effectively manage a portfolio of Marine Hull clients and ensure best practice is achieved.
Servicing a worldwide portfolio of clients produced on a wholesale as well as a retail basis
Service both renewals and new business from the initial enquiry through to the handing over of the completed placing slip to the Documentation / Policy Department for processing and invoicing
Provide full reviews of submissions, preparation of underwriting presentations, production of draft insurance contracts set out in a slip format and including detailed premium and claim analysis
Placement of business with Insurers in a number of ways
Assisting where required traditional broking into Lloyd’s of London and other London based insurers
Trading direct with Underwriters based overseas QualificationsSkills, Knowledge & Experience Required
Proven Hull & Machinery insurance experience is essential
Experience in handling wider Marine insurance is beneficial but not essential
ACII part/fully qualified (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Negotiating and Influencing skills
Proficient with software packages such as Word and Excel.
Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines is essential
