Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Interior Designer / Job Runner to work in its London-based Interiors team. The role will be to manage commercial office Interior Design projects. Reporting to Associate Director / Design Director and ultimately Head of Interiors.


  • Manage and co-ordinate the internal design team for the project

  • Take full responsibility for the development of the design process and deliverables, and liaise where appropriate with both internal team and external design team(s)

  • Create and drive excellent content for clients with high level Director support

  • Manage multiple projects including taking responsibility for the commercial aspect of projects, resource planning and management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to convey complex ideas and messages in a simple and clear way

  • Seek out innovation and best practice across all areas of the role – bring new ideas and creative thinking to client work as well as across the internal AECOM Design team

  • Write design proposals with Director support, clear narrative, strong description of services and associated modelling of fees

  • Seek continuing professional development thorough knowledge of and compliance with AECOM procedures and standards

Minimum Requirements

  • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities

  • Have an Industry recognised diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture & significant job running experience in interior design on large workplace/ commercial projects

  • Able to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion

  • Able to integrate design requirements with architecture

  • Able to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project, minimum requires as noted above

  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills

  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information

  • Flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent, lifelong learning

  • Responsible, self-assured, motivated and able to take responsibility

  • Willingness to listen and learn from all members of the team

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team

  • Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure

  • Proficient in Autocad and Sketch up

  • Proficient in In-Design / PhotoShop Excel and Powerpoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Job running experience on major workplace / commercial projects.
