We’re seeking someone with solid cloud infrastructure experience to further grow the adoption of cloud with our global company. Working alongside a growing and global team of cloud talent this is the perfect place to further grow your skillset in one of the company’s foundational technologies.

Where you fit

As an IT Advisor you’re going to be part of the Cloud Platform Center of Excellence, where you will be acting as one of our cloud experts. As such, you’ll advise business users on how to make the most of our new cloud platforms when developing new tools and solutions.

It’s a truly challenging role, as you will lay down the foundation of Shell’s transition into the cloud. You’ll be interacting with a wide range of business and IT stakeholders, hereby relying on both your technical understanding of cloud as well as your interpersonal skillset.

What’s the role?

Your primary aim will be to perform platform engineering & automation activities on Shell’s AWS Cloud Platform. You will also be a Cloud subject matter expert advising a range of stakeholders, such as product managers, business analysts, software engineers and operation support teams. It’s important they keep thinking about infrastructure and automation components whilst developing new and maintaining existing applications on Shell’s cloud platforms.

More specific responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with senior business and technical stakeholders and align stakeholder needs and demand with Shell Cloud First Strategy.

  • Implement best practices and provide prescriptive guidance around systems design using AWS platform and technologies.

  • Enable, drive and lead initiatives focusing on establishing and embedding cloud architecture & design governance across the organization and promoting Agile and DevOps ways of working.

  • Conduct deep-dive “hands-on” education and training sessions as part of Cloud Enablement resulting in Cloud Uptake at Shell.

Requirements:

What we need from you

We’re keen to hear from you if you have extensive cloud experience, both infrastructure and automation. As well as significant DevOps experience, familiarity with AWS and has Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) certification, you’ll also call on your Bachelor’s degree in IT or a similar discipline.

Beyond your skills as a team player with experience of working in a multi-disciplined IT environment, we hope to see as many of the following on your CV:

  • Technical expertise in designing large and strategic cloud and hybrid solutions.

  • In-depth knowledge of AWS platform & Tools and experience in designing highly available, high performing, secure, cost effective and fault tolerant systems on AWS.

  • Hands on experience with DevOps and as many of the following Infrastructure Automation and Configuration Management and Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring tools – Git, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Nagios, Grafana.

  • Strong knowledge of public, private & hybrid cloud security & compliance best practices.

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and inter personal skills.
