Job Description:

We are seeking a talented IT Professional with strong project and stakeholder management skills who will be part of our newly created Subsurface and Wells (SSW) IT organization.

Where you fit?

The SSW IT organization will be interfacing with the leadership of Shell’s Upstream Exploration, PT Development, Wells, and New Business Development organisations. The SSW space also represents one of the four key Digitalization opportunities in Shell with large investment to develop and implement the new digital technologies.

What’s the role?

As an IT Advisor, you will be responsible for providing support to the IT Manager (ITM) in delivering bottom line value to the business through implementation of innovative, new IT solutions and harvesting existing IT assets to enable the achievement of the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs.

Your key focus areas of the role are:

  • Relationship management

  • Business intelligence

  • Integrated Business and IT strategy

  • Innovation

  • IT Portfolio Management

  • Value Generation

Relationship Management: You will support the ITM to drive a One Team mindset whilst working closely with business stakeholders to understand and influence how IT and the business can align strategic success goals, challenging the business to deliver value for IT dollars invested.

Business Intelligence: Supporting the ITM in contributing to business decisions through strong relationships, business and IT understanding and external market perspectives. With this, you would need a clear understanding of the Business and Industry landscape, including strategic priorities, challenges and how this relates to the wider enterprise strategy and competitive landscape.

Integrated IT and Business Strategy: You will work with business and multiple IT teams to shape opportunities and align solutions with business strategies. You will support the ITM as well to capture and maintain the IT strategic response.

Innovation: You will support the ITM in improving organizational performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, data, products and services. On top of this, you will play a critical role in the business improvements and digitalization investments within the organization.

IT Portfolio Management: You will support the ITM with managing demand, capturing detailed business requirements for review and agreed business outcomes.

Value Generation: You will provide support to the ITM to develop robust business cases in partnership with business stakeholders and other IT areas, capturing IT expenditures, business changes and business benefits incorporating IT performance metrics, measurements and benefits.

What we need from you?

We’re keen to hear from IT professionals who holds either a bachelor’s or master’s degree preferably related to Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or any related degree. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • The interest and ability to understand the business strategy, value drivers, and challenges and an eagerness to use this to identify opportunities for IT to drive greater business value

  • A good understanding of technology deployments in the market and their relevance to driving business value

  • Strong business analysis skills and the ability to shape opportunities into project proposals

  • Good communication and influencing skills and a collaborative approach for use in engaging with both business and IT stakeholders

  • Previous experience identifying and maturing business IT opportunities
