Why this role is so important

Shell has launched its first blockchain application, as well as being a Shell first this application is also a global breakthrough – enabling the world’s first oil product derivative trade using blockchain to be executed in November 2018.

This application is called Downstream Exchange (DSX). DSX reduces manual effort in trading by reducing the need for inefficient forms of communication and provides access to real time pricing information so deals can be valued and executed much faster than previously possible, locking in favourable economics.

What you will be doing:

This is an exciting product which is enabling business value for the IT Products trading team using the latest IT technology. As product manager you’ll be responsible for managing the Downstream Exchange suite of products.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the point of contact between the business, the customer, the stakeholders and the team, and is responsible for effectively managing communication between these groups.

  • Lead and coach a team of an 8-team squad plus burst capacity when required.

  • Brings together the customer and business needs into a vision that represents the overall direction and scope of the product and uses that vision to manage a budget and guide product priorities and strategy (including go to market strategy).

  • Work alongside the Product owner developing new features and capabilities to continue the innovation journey of the blockchain platform and product vision.

Requirements:

  • Significant Agile experience: Understanding of core agile principles and ability to apply agile methodologies (eg, Scrum and/or Kanban) to a project Customer Centricity: Working closely with service designers and researchers and to develop a deeper understanding of the business customers and how to address customer needs and pains

  • Proven experience working on a DevOps environment

  • Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, RackSpace IaaS or OpenStack and containers such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Blockchain and Hyperledger technologies

  • Knowledge with design thinking methodologies

  • A proven ability to set and evangelize a vision, direction or strategy to stakeholders and a team

  • Leadership capability to manage through ambiguity and empower a team to work collaboratively to deliver on their goals

  • Ideally exposure to the Oil Trading Derivatives business
