What’s the role?

As Legal Counsel, we’ll be looking to you to share your expertise and experience on all areas of trade compliance to Shell companies on a wide range of international trade related issues, from export control and economic sanctions.

Working both independently, yet as an integral part of a virtual Trade Compliance team, you’ll thrive on collaborative relationships, with a range of stakeholders. Quickly identifying where support and guidance is needed, and inspiring teams with ways to work positively and effectively.

Much will depend on your ability to apply complex regulatory requirements to a variety of business situations, whilst skilfully providing practical and fully compliant solutions.

More specifically, that will mean managing training and awareness briefings to senior leaders; investigating and preparing regulatory disclosures; and working within your team to maintain the Shell Trade Compliance programme.

Requirements:

What we need from you

You’ll call on your expertise within legal practice, along with some experience of compliance in either private practice or in-house. Knowledge of international trade controls would also be an advantage.

An energetic self-starter, with an enthusiasm to learn, you’ll also have excellent legal drafting skills. Beyond that, we’re keen to hear from men and women who have a flair for communication and negotiations, and a keen eye for identifying risks.
