The Lead Digital Product Manager (LDPM) Digitise Processes role responsible for leading a team focused on co-creation of digital value in areas such as procurement processes, automation of routine tasks and process digitalisation, across Shell and as a partner to the business
The LDPM Digitise Processes is the key relationship owner working with a diverse group of senior business stakeholders (EVPs, VPs and GMs in Businesses) along with Digital, IT and Technology leaders. The LDPM is focused maximising the adoption of high-impact digitalisation to advance the Digitise Processes goals of Shell.
The LDPM manages a small but senior team of Digital Product Managers responsible for delivering digital products and propositions with the business, and coordinates with the other Principal DPM(s) to reduce duplication and promote cross group working according to Shell's digitalisation guiding principles.
The LDPM plays a technology innovation advisory role toward the lines of businesses that he or she supports. this means ensuring the right innovative technologies are offered as possible ideas to solve complex business problems.
The LDPM plays a strategic role to enable Shell to fully exploit its agreed digital value pools and maintain a clear view of available supply and demand.
Maintains the innovation funnel for the lines of business and coordinates with the GM of Emerging Technology to ensure his/her businesses technologies are matured.
A key focus area is accelerating maturation and replication of the available digital technology propositions at scale. The LDPM is responsible for resourcing against project requirements and finding the optimal adoption mix of new and emerging propositions vs tried and tested capabilities. The role entails strong coordination with the Digital Excellence PMO on Digital projects and the acceleration of capability and proposition maturity (e.g. investment, capability building). The LDPM is also expected to coordinate work with ecosystem partners and DPMs to identify relevant new proposition and delivery capabilities. The LDPM co-creates roadmaps with Digital Excellence and Emerging Digital Technology for possible digital product introduction for their respective domain.
The role requires impact evangelisation skills on proposition capabilities and potential. The LDPM will need to proactively manage the tension in supply and demand as well as the investment and resource mix between new and established digital propositions.
Significant experience in a leadership position in a complex environment..
Proven leadership skills, with vast experience in managing multiple, cross-functional teams.
Out of the box thinking is a requirement and must be a mover/shaker personality.
Proven ability to master complexity of interactions with diverse Business stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of the business to understand and prioritise strategic business requirements.
Strong communication skills in both Digital and Business setting.
Good understanding of digital capabilities and the value they deliver. The LDPM is not required to be a deep expert on digital but is expected to be knowledgeable on the major digital resource pools applicable to their area.
Practical experience of working in and with techniques such as agile, scrum, lean start-up or design thinking and in creation of Minimum Viable Products/Propositions (MVPs).
Knowledge of / experience in the associated digital value pool of Customer Centricity. Should be recognised as a deep subject matter expert on the business pressures, aspirations and key initiatives.
Proven people development skills, coaching experience. Should be aware of and a proponent of modern leadership and people management techniques (e.g. servant leadership, purpose-based leadership).
Have a risk appetite greater than for classical non-digital roles, be able to identify those risks and ensure that the business understands, accepts and signs up to those risks.
Results-oriented, ability to manage time and schedules to meet aggressive deadlines. Able to manage and be comfortable dealing with a mixed portfolio of fully formed digital projects, proofs of concepts and experiments.
