This role is designed to be the overall owner of the digital agenda for Shell Aviation. The incumbent will be accountable for the development and delivery of comprehensive strategies for digital, data and analytics to support delivery of sustainable competitive advantage and commercial growth for the global business. This will include:
development and integration of a comprehensive digital/data/analytics strategy into Aviations overall strategic roadmap
Oversee Digital/Data/Analytics program delivery working closely with the broader Shell Downstream business, including the internal IT and Agile Hub teams, to leverage resource, expertise and innovation
to be the key interface with global IT to manage the funnel of priorities and associated spend across both innovation and run and maintain applications
to be the key interface with external partners and ventures to ensure maximum value extracted from all investments & partnerships
to maintain a close understanding of customer, market and competitior trends, identifying the key opportunities and investments needed to achieve and retain a market leadership position in the application of technology for commercial growth
It should be noted that as this is a new role the successful candidate should expect a degree of ambiguity in the role dimensions and should be prepared to continue developing the role as needed to fit with business requirements

This incumbent is required to develop an integrated and comprehensive digital, data and analytics strategy for aviation that covers digitalising the core, developing new CVP’s (in conjunction with the CVP & Insights Manager) as well as interfacing with the venture team on potential third-party equity investments to shore up our digital offers.
They are expected to build, govern and implement the delivery roadmap, working as needed with both Aviation, and the broader Shell Downstream and external stakeholders and partners as needed
The incumbent will need to oversee both the strategy delivery as well as the day to day data and analytics needs of the business. This will include (but is not limited to) products and services used at airports, analytics tools used with customers, online interfaces, internal reporting as well as our bid and tender platform and airline/airport data integration work. It will also include development of enhanced capabilities within Aviation on data analytics to drive better commercial outcomes/ decision making
In terms of externally facing growth opportunities these will include (but are not limited to) the development of (internally or via external partnerships):
online carbon solutions for customers and airline passengers
fuel management/ optimisation solutions for airlines
solutions that enable “more time flying: for airlines
airside innovation for airports
As required, incumbent will be responsible for working closely with the Shell Ventures team to determine the full value of third-party investment opportunities where the value is primarily linked to online/data-based products or services. Post any investment with technology based third party ventures, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring the full value of the investments are being realised and that all synergies between businesses are being fully leveraged.
The incumbent will need to identify opportunities for enhancing digital targeting of customers and account-based marketing in conjunction with the broader marketing team to ensure that the process for delivering products and services is as targeted, as effective and as profitable as possible
The role has up to 3 direct reports initially increasing over time as the digital agenda expands. It will have dotted line reporting to any project activity running out of IT/ Agile Hub etc
