What we need from you

You’ll need to be of graduate calibre (in IT) with awareness of a wide range of IT/digital technologies and the different models, tools and methods used in the consultancy world. You’ve sharpened your project management and problem-solving skills working in planning, strategy or consultancy, and shown you can analyse business models and ecosystems, synthesise strategic recommendations and confidently present your findings, both in person and on paper.

Within six months, we want you to lead complex projects, deep diving into new business and IT domains and bringing clarity on how IT generates value for Shell. Over time, you’ll be in strategic dialogues with senior leaders in many functions, so it’s vital you can quickly earn people’s trust, understand customers’ needs (immediate and long term) and, when necessary, defuse disagreements and deliver tough messages with grace. McKinsey experience would be an asset.

On top of that, it’s vital that you’ve demonstrated you can do as many of the following as possible:

  • Understand and apply the terminology, metrics, and calculations relevant to business-specific measures and KPIs, such as return on investment (ROI), stakeholder value, benefits realisation and capability improvement.

  • Execute and drive decisions, even when there’s ambiguity or incomplete information.

  • Harness your creativity and other people’s to generate new problem-solving approaches.

  • Achieve results working virtually and through others; you’re collaborative and customer-centric.

  • Remain focused and productive under pressure and recover quickly from setbacks; you’re happy managing several undertakings at once.
