The Wells Fargo Legal Department strives to offer services in accordance with the highest standards of judgment, integrity, and ethical leadership.

The Legal Department partners with clients to find solutions that best serve customers and contribute to the success of Wells Fargo. The Paralegal 2 professional will be an integral member of the eCommerce, Technology, Information and Global Services (eTIGS) section of the Enterprise Functions Division of the Wells Fargo Legal Department. The eTIGS section provides legal advice and support to companies and businesses throughout the Wells Fargo & Company global enterprise. Our scope of responsibility includes regulatory compliance and operational risk management in data privacy, information security, cybersecurity, security incident response, technology, eCommerce (particularly online banking and payments), mobile commerce (particularly mobile banking and payments), social media, records management, and third-party risk management.

The Position

The successful candidate will support attorneys on the eTIGS section's Privacy legal team. Privacy team attorneys support Wells Fargo's Global Privacy Office on a variety of state, federal and global privacy matters. Our team also provides guidance to other attorneys in the Legal Department who counsel key business units across Wells Fargo such as: Community Banking; Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation; Wholesale Banking; and Wealth and Investment Management.

Working at the direction of supervising attorneys, the paralegal’s responsibilities and duties will include the following:

  • Research state, federal and global laws and regulations related to: privacy; data collection, use and sharing; and cross-border data transfers

  • Monitor, digest, and develop written summaries of proposed and enacted legislation, regulations, court decisions, industry and regulatory guidelines, and other relevant publications related to privacy (e.g., financial privacy; telemarketing privacy; medical privacy; workplace privacy)

  • Manage the team’s Outlook mailbox regarding the submission of matters to the team by clients; assist with the administration and management of workstreams

  • Interface regularly and directly with attorneys throughout the Legal Department, as well as compliance and risk professionals, on privacy-related legal issues

  • Help provide proactive privacy-by-design project support to various lines of business on legal and regulatory requirements related to privacy

  • Produce clear and concise written materials that can be submitted to clients with minimal revision or review by an attorney

  • Assist attorneys with developing educational and training materials for business client groups and other Divisions of the Legal Department

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience

  • Strong research skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Paralegal certification may be required in some states
