How will you make an impact?

Senior Staff Engineer, Projects and Solutions for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Field and Safety Instruments Service team. The position will be responsible for driving innovation to create customer focused solutions and ultimately developing the business. The role will also provide critical technical support to the Commercial Team and other functions in support of applying and demonstrating customer solutions utilizing Thermo Fisher Scientific and third party products and services.

What will you do?

  • Develop the Projects and Solutions product offering by creating innovative solutions increasing the value of Thermo Fisher Scientific products in addition to aligning with the businesses digital science strategy and integrating third party products to drive growth within the FSI Service organization.

  • Support the creation of comprehensive proposals for major systems integration bids and supporting presentations of such proposals to the customer and senior leadership as required.

  • Manage multifunction and multi-vendor efforts to define, plan, sell and implement solutions to customer’s complex business problems.

  • Support expansion of FSI Service Projects and Solutions delivering turnkey service solutions offerings globally.

  • Develop a customer centric inquiry to order process enabling clear capture of customer requirements followed by the production competitive proposals in addition to presenting solutions to customers.

  • Collaborate with the businesses commercial team to set program strategy enabling project and solution-based revenue growth across a wide range of projects.

  • Solve tactical and strategic multi-disciplinary issues and play a role in cross-functional decisions.

  • Support sales calls to seek out broader relationship with FSI customers to facilitate networking and prospecting to identify new solutions.

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor’s degree required in computer science, software engineering or other appropriate engineering discipline.

  • Master’s degree preferred.


  • 10+ years of customer product and systems solution development experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Desirable experience includes a background in computer science, engineering, quality assurance, product and system development. Complex systems integration, communications and a strong understanding of quality assurance and configuration management when applied to product and systems development. Cloud technology and XaaS experience desirable.

  • Self-motivated, ability to multi-task many key customer projects, objectives and activities simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels when communicating with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid, positive and effective professional relationships with peers and upper management.

  • Expected travel requirements: 30%
