IBM Watson Health - Statistician/ Sr Statistician (HEOR/Outcomes) in Los Angeles, California
This individual will provide expertise in health services research with proficiency in applied statistics, epidemiological methods, and study design. The Statistician will have knowledge of, and experience in, applying statistical methods to health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) in various settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production, quality, deployment, and documentation of content (i.e., methodologies and analysis results) for Life Science customer needs. This person will operate as an independent statistical consultant, advising colleagues and clients on the planning and execution of statistical analyses using appropriate methods, as well as on the interpretation and presentation of results. The Statistician will have expertise in statistical programming using a product like SAS ® , STATA ® or R.
Where required, provide sound, experience based, resource estimates to internal teams regarding the execution of statistical analysis tasks for various HEOR studies.
When necessary, advise on matters pertaining to the design of an HEOR study (e.g., sample size determination).
When required, provide critical review of statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and/or study protocols written by internal teams or by Life Science clients.
Collaborate with researchers to achieve study objectives, deliver results on time, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
Interact with HEOR, epidemiology and or clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) to specify statistical models. Analyze retrospective health research data and interpret results.
When necessary, interact with client-side statistics SMEs interpreting and assessing technical statistical methods requests/proposals for feasibility, both on technical and business merits
Communicate effectively with both internal and external clients, explain methods, interpret results, and create effective tabular and graphical displays.
Create specifications for building analytic data files.
Ensure data and reporting meet Company requirements/ standards for quality
Innovate statistical methods or adapt standard statistical methods, as needed.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Master’s or PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics or similar
Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience conducting statistical analyses on health care data.
2 years post graduate experience functioning as a statistical lead within a project team and in carrying out innovative methods.
2 years post graduate experience in the documentation of analytical concepts, in report-writing, and in writing papers for submission to journals
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
- 2 years experience in discussing technical issues with technical and non-technical audiences and work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
