Reports to the Sr. Manager, Learning & Development, Retail.

What you will do:

  • Partner with the Retail Leadership Team, Region/Division and Branch Managers as well as the HR/OE organization to analyze the effectiveness of Retail’s training and development initiatives in the field and determine where gaps and opportunities exist to address high priority needs

  • Manage learning and development activities related to increasing the effectiveness of our field sales staff

  • Develop and execute the tactics necessary to achieve the strategic goals

  • Assist with the development of strategy that directly align to businessstrategy of the Retail business unit

  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to determine training needs and work quickly to identify, build and implement training solutions to increase the effectiveness of our field staff with a focus on sales staff

  • Plan, design, and deliver training programs to meet identified needs and evaluate the impact of programs offered

  • Deliver training in classroom, online, and on-the job

  • Provide flexibility in training style for various types of delivery channels and effectively engage training participants from junior to senior levels

  • Leverage and coordinate all delivery/facilitation resources necessary, may include regional trainers, subject matter experts, external consultants and/or other Nutrien L&D resources

  • Coordinate and liaise with regional training staff to ensure consistent offerings across Retail geography

  • Identify current regional based training initiatives for effectiveness and assist with cascading those initiatives into other regions

  • Use talent analytics to understand trends and show progress in talent development and ROI

  • Assist with the maintenance and utilization of talent management system including online course development, deployment and registration, report generation and utilization of analytical tools

  • Communicate program updates and information to key stakeholders

  • Manage training and development budget and make recommendations for future budgetary needs

What you will bring:

  • Experience building and managing programs focusing on sales effectiveness, preferably in the ag retail space

  • Previous retail sales experience in the agriculture industry

  • Superior collaboration skills including the ability to advise, integrate and act upon the unique requirementsof stakeholders at all levels

  • An effective strategic business partner with an ability to consult through to delivering on just in time training requirements

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple initiatives

  • Exceptional critical thinking to help identify educational gaps, analyze findings and make recommendations while articulating next steps

  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication

  • Creativity and experience bringing new programs and ideas to fruition

  • Technology focused and utilizing technology in all aspects of training including learning management systems and online delivery platforms (preference given to SuccessFactors experience)

  • A working knowledge of training products and services, e.g., adult learning skills, curriculum development, instructional design, delivery and evaluation

  • Awareness of industry suppliers/resources - training and development consultants, instructional designers, project managers, and trainers/faculty

  • Strong business knowledge in the agriculture space

  • Agricultural product knowledge as well as agronomic knowledge will be an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility as an internal training and development thought leader

  • Proven track record of collaborating with field based operations including regional, divisional and branch level staff

  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed

  • Ability to translate strategic vision into tactical action, identify the highest impact ideas and plans and focus efforts by resource allocation

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to travel throughout the United States. Up to 75% travel
